How to Be the Most Valuable Member of Your Group

By NETWORK. LEAD. EXCHANGE.

Members delivering value are the best part of networking groups. Network Lead Exchange explains how anyone can become the most valuable member of their group regardless of their position.

Developing value in a networking group derives from what individual members bring to the table. More than anything, individual members of networking groups must possess a transformational mindset. They’re not in a network for the transaction of referrals; rather, these network members seek creation of a vibrant business community. The attitude of giving without expecting anything in return provides the platform for individual members to be extremely valuable within their groups.

Actively Listen

The most important parts of any conversation are the things not being said. Listen to what fellow networkers are saying. Most importantly, find out what they’re not saying. Think about the gaps in their words and how to effectively give them the bridge from their knowledge to their goals. Listening makes people feel heard. Often networking events make people feel sold to. When listening without an agenda, other people in the network see the listener as someone with value. They’re a person not trying to get something, just give.

Deliver Knowledge

Part of active listening is acting upon the information received. In this case it’s important to find the missing link for fellow professionals. Check out blogs and LinkedIn articles. These are easy to find and because they lack a significant investment of time to read are always well-received. Don’t just spam contacts with content. Give them relevant information. They’ll appreciate the curation of knowledge and reciprocate in turn.

Deliver Referrals with No Expectations

Every networker gives referrals with the expectation of getting the same in return. However, the networkers delivering the most value are those referring without expecting reciprocation. The joy of networking is helping others. The giving spirit is where value derives. People naturally seek to help others; so being a helpful person genuinely earns back the favor given at least two-fold. Think about ways to provide referrals and the customers who’d benefit from a fellow networker’s business. Do it without expectation, and positive energy sustains the network.

There are plenty of networkers delivering great value in local groups. Find a networking group where delivering value is a cornerstone @ NETWORKLEADEXCHANGE.COM.
