3 Reasons Entrepreneurs Must Self-Promote

By NETWORK. LEAD. EXCHANGE.

Entrepreneurs are humble people taking pride in their work. Network Lead Exchange explains why every entrepreneur should promote who they are and what they do.

Muhammad Ali once said, “It ain’t bragging if it’s true!” Ali, of course, is the Greatest of All-Time so it’s definitely not bragging. However, many entrepreneurs don’t have the decisive record of the Louisville Lip and therefore feel awkward promoting themselves. They shouldn’t. Part of building a business is self-promotion. It’s hard work to create something let alone build something sustainable. Entrepreneurs are the keystone to the economy. They should self-promote for no other reason than if they’re not, the competition will.

Send a Message

Entrepreneurs are smart, industrious people. Self-promoting lets potential customers know a business is out there and who is behind the business. Talking about the qualities of a business and the personal qualities embodied by an entrepreneur gives potential customers something to relate to. There are those who say every conversation is a conversion opportunity. Conversion can mean something different. Build relationships by being about integrity, and let the words be the window into who the entrepreneur is and why they do what they do.

Talk to Industry Leaders

Every entrepreneur would love time on Shark Tank. The best part of the show isn’t when entrepreneurs make a deal, but just getting in the room with the sharks. Even if a deal isn’t made, the sharks offer priceless advice and counsel. However, if an entrepreneur isn’t self-promoting, there’s no way they’re headed into the tank. Learn how to talk about oneself without being egotistical. Focus on objective facts and don’t be reticent to mention accomplishments. Industry leaders appreciate this and will give this person time – not the braggart.

Attract Customers and Talent

No one wishes to work with a person lacking a clue. No customer will visit a business that isn’t confident it can deliver service. Promote what is great about the business and people will come. Every business has a competitive advantage – it may not know it yet. These advantages are important to press. Self-promotion is simply letting the world know what’s available. People will get excited; they will join the team or choose the business. The law of attraction is real, and it’s important for everyone to do their part with it.
